It just hasn’t been working for me the past few nights. All I want is a nice easy summer dress. I guess I should plan things a little more, instead of winging it and making it up as I go along.
I’ll unpick and try again tomorrow.

Its been a lazy week this week.

This is kind of my creative space. But not really. I got it all out, with grand idea’s of making some kind of monster. I’ve made it’s legs, I’ve been stuffing them while watching tv, but that’s as far as it got.
I’m a day late, thats how lazy I am. You can check out some much more creative spaces over at Kootooyoo.
I haven’t even been embroidering all that much this week! Just been chilling out, watching Angel.
I got my pen pals assigned to me for the Meet Me at Mike’s Forum Pen Pal swap. So thats pretty exciting.
And I realised that its only 18 days till i go on holidays! oh yeah! California here I come!

I found a lovely lovely artist by the name of Marine Beloir on Flickr this morning. Plush, embroidery, sketching, its all really quite inspiring.

so much cuteness!
The more I look the more I’m in love with Marine’s work. I only wish I could be as talented.

She has a blog which you can take a look at over here or if flickr is your fancy, check this out.
From what I can tell, a lot of the plush and embroidery seems to be taken directly from Marine’s own lovely sketches.

She even draws on shoes!!!!

I really don’t feel like this post is doing this french artist’s beautiful work justice. I just thought I’d share with everyone, maybe you’ll be inspired too.
I know I’m inspired to start drawing more again, and then try and create using my own images as inspiration.

I’ve been working on the Little Mushroom Girl by One Red Robin.
Look at those french knots! yay! I finally mastered them the other day. Originally this was going to be a redwork, but I decided it would look better in colour.
I’m enjoying embroidery so much right now.

I know I’ve already updated today, and I try not to update more than once a day, but I looked over my shoulder just before and saw this:

Really.
Must have been comfy, she was lying like that for quite awhile, just staring at me. Didn’t even move when I got my camera out, normally she does.
I love my Lizzy.
Just ignore my floor that needs to be vacuumed and crappy work shoes.

Today has been a super lazy day for me. Slept in til 10:30, did some laundry and then spent the rest of the day in my underwear embroidering and watching Buffy (i’ve pretty much watched most of season 6 today.)
I meant to get my camera out and take a good picture of my redwork, and a picture of what I’m currently working on. However being that it was my lazy day off, that never happened.

So here is an okish picture of my completed redwork. Once again thanks to Claire for such an awesome pattern.
Soon I believe this will be made into a cushion.
I also fully intend on learning how to take better photos of my embroidery.
I’ve been thinking about 2010 a bit tonight. I suppose it may seem a little early, being that its only September. However I am thinking of enrolling in TAFE again and doing a bit more study. I’ve got a course in mind, but I’m not 100% decided yet. I’ll be letting you know once I know.
Anyone else planning for 2010 yet? What are you thinking of getting up to?

Almost every Sunday the boyfriend and I go marketing for fresh vegies and trash and treasure. Today was a treasure-less marketing adventure, but the boyfriend did manage to get quite a haul of chillies.

I just had to get a photo of them all in the fridge, they’re so red, yellow and orange. I’m not a huge fan of chillies, but I don’t mind a little in my food. I really do love how they look though.
We also went on a nice adventure around Brisbane, a trip to Spotlight to use my 10 dollar voucher before it was invalid, then to Sunnybank to have Malaysian food for lunch and lastly ending up in Inala and then Darra in search of various Asian vegies and spices.
Its so hot today! I’ve been feeling a little queesy today too. I’m not sure if its from the heat or all the lollies I ate yesterday at my sister’s bbq (the wedding reception was rather short, so we were able to do both.) So I’m currently just relaxing and embroidering before work tonight. I haven’t got any nice photos to share today. I have tomorrow off so I’ll be taking some then.

Theres always so many things to do on a Saturday. Its my only day off on the weekend, since I work Sunday nights.
I’ve been invited to a bbq and a wedding today. I’m going to the wedding. I’m all dressed up, in my polka dot dress and shoes, waiting for the boyfriend and his housemate to get ready. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way round? Aren’t the boys supposed to be waiting for me? It always seems to happen this way. I guess I’m just a low maintenence girl.
What are you doing on this Saturday?

This week I’ve been embroidering while watching tv. I think this one will be finished by tonight.

I adore this pattern. I’ll be stitching it up again sometime soon.
I’m so tired after work today, I’m just going to chill out and stitch, but you can check at more creative spaces over at Kootoyoo

Vintage craft books. I collect them a little bit. I get them from op shops and bookfairs. I rarely ever pay more than a couple of dollars for each of them.
A few bookfairs ago I picked up a fair few embroidery books, because at the time I was really interested in learning. And as you can see from my recent posts, thats an interest that seems to have stuck.

The Stitchery Book by Irene Preston Miller and Winifred Lubell is probably one of my favourites.
It was originally published in 1965. My copy is a reprint from 1968. I had a quick look on Amazon out of curiousity to see if you could get it and quite a few people are selling copies of it for rather cheap.
Its easy to explain and pretty much my main resource when I’m looking up a new stitch. Its mostly aimed at children but I like that, cos its nice and basic for me. I also like just flicking through it and looking at the illustrations. Its mostly printed in black and white (with a little bit of blue), but their are a few colour pages.
I haven’t read all of it, their are lovely little stories about embroidery in the past, like Queen Elizabeth 1 embroidering a velvet book cover and cute 60s style projects to try yourself. Pellon diary cover anyone?
and because this is starting to sound a bit book reviewish. Here’s some pictures:

some chain stitch examples. I love the camel.

Slovakian, Cretan and Hungarian Birds
and of course, the back cover is just as lovely as the front.

I will be showing off some more of my collection in the future I think.
